Direct creativity towards solutions

At Virginia Mason, innovation is defined as directed creativity implemented. Our people are our greatest innovation sources, and most health care systems are not designed to optimize their contributions. This is a significant missed opportunity for advancing innovation that can be rectified. In this two-day workshop, you will practice proven methods to engage and activate your workforce in harvesting, identifying and prioritizing ideas that will fix common problems inherent in your health care setting. Throughout the learning experience, participants receive value-added coaching and performance feedback provided by expert instructors versed in clinical and administrative process improvement excellence.

This workshop will give you an understanding of

  • The management structures necessary to drive creativity and innovation.
  • Essential innovation concepts and tools.
  • Innovation competencies and how they relate to improvement work.
  • The directed creativity cycle and the specific techniques for each phase.

After this workshop, you will be able to

  • Recognize and analyze a culture of innovation.
  • Energize staff by tapping into their natural creativity to solve difficult problems.
  • Develop an idea pipeline that supports the flow of ideas from generation to implementation.

Who should attend

This workshop is ideal for those with a preliminary understanding of process improvement, including:

  • Lean leaders
  • Members of quality, safety, and improvement departments including directors, specialists and coaches
  • Organizational development leaders and staff
  • Executives
  • Project managers
